At the meeting of the Academic Council of the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, the updated Internationalization Strategy for 2026–2030 was presented and generally supported. It defines the key areas of the university’s international development for the next five years and outlines a systematic approach to expanding its global presence.
One of the central parts of the strategy was the internationalization roadmap presented by the Chairman of the Academic Council, Igor Tsependa, containing specific tasks, responsible executors, and performance indicators. It covers the development of international educational programs, participation in network university consortia, intensification of cooperation in European scientific initiatives, and the attraction of foreign students.
During the discussion, examples of effective practices of international activities of university teachers and faculties were presented. In particular, the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Larisa Zagray, shared her experience of participating in the Harvard University program and presented the results of an international project implemented by the faculty team. This case demonstrates that successful internationalization begins with the initiative of the academic community.
The Academic Council also noted the contribution of Professor Andriy Zagorodnyuk, editor-in-chief of the Carpathian Mathematical Publications (Q1) journal, which has become one of the leading scientific venues in the region and a platform for interaction between mathematical schools in Ukraine, Europe, and the world.
The strategy determines that one of the key focuses of the university in 2026–2030 remains the development of the International Scientific Center “Observatory” on Pip Ivan.
The Center is a unique platform for Ukrainian-Polish cooperation, the development of high-altitude research, and the creation of new educational opportunities for students and young scientists.
Carpathian University continues to form long-term international landmarks that open up new opportunities for partnerships, joint projects, and scientific discoveries.
The next stage will be the practical implementation of the strategy — intense but promising work, the results of which will be a significant contribution to the development of the university and its international positioning.
In turn, the Head of the International Relations Department, Mariana Sygydyn, presented a report on the implementation of the University’s Internationalization Strategy in the reporting year and the draft strategy for 2026–2030.
During the discussion, the main achievements of the university over the past years were noted: membership in international communities (EDUC, UNIVERSEH, ORCID), conclusion of 67 international agreements, holding over 100 international events, launching new double degree programs, attracting foreign teachers, participation of students and teachers in academic mobility programs, as well as the university’s high positions in prestigious international rankings.
A solemn moment during the meeting was the awarding of a certificate of gratitude by the Chairman of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council to the Head of the Department of Judicial Procedure, Professor Yulia Kernyakevych-Tanasiychuk, for her fruitful work in training specialists and scientific and pedagogical personnel, introducing new technologies, forms and methods of teaching into the educational and educational process, intellectual, cultural and moral development of students, ensuring the unity of teaching and education, successes in the practical training of students, the development of their creative activity and independence, as well as for high professionalism.
Also, the Ukrainian Association of International Economists presented the Head of the Department of International Economic Relations, Professor Liliya Mykhailyshyn, with a commemorative anniversary medal for many years of fruitful cooperation, high professionalism, dedication to scientific values, and personal contribution to the development of the organization.
