On December 5, the rector of the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, Valentyna Yakubiv, together with the vice-rectors and the teaching staff, made a trip to the village of Rusiv – the small homeland of the outstanding Ukrainian writer and patron of our university.
The visit is timed to coincide with the anniversary of his death, which is commemorated every year on December 7. The participants of the trip visited the Vasyl Stefanyk Literary and Memorial Museum, viewed the exhibition that recreates the atmosphere of the novelist’s life and work, and visited his native house.
It was from this place, filled with the spirit of the era and true stories of peasant life, that his emotional and profound short stories were born.
An important part of the trip was honoring the writer’s memory at his grave. Here, the greatness of Stefanyk’s words and his significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture are especially felt.
This journey was a reminder of why the university is worthy of bearing the name of Vasyl Stefanyk. His talent, civic position, devotion to his native land, and integrity remain a moral and intellectual reference point for students, scholars, and faculty of our academic community.
