Competition for a $1000 scholarship for the authors of the best master’s theses

Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University announces the second stage of the competition for a scholarship from the Foundation of the Institute of Oriental Studies (Republic of Poland) . Within the framework of this stage , two graduates of the “Master” level , authors of the best master’s theses, will be selected .

Who can participate?

Graduates whose master’s theses are dedicated to issues of university or regional development are invited to participate.

The topic of the master’s thesis should be related to:

  • with the strategic goals and development directions of the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, defined by the University Development Strategy for 2020–2027 ;

or

  • with strategic and operational goals and objectives defined by the Development Strategy of Ivano-Frankivsk Region for 2021–2027 .

List of documents

To participate in the competition, you must submit:

  1. Application for participation in the scholarship competition.
  2. A motivation letter in Ukrainian and English or Polish, which should substantiate the motivation and reasons for choosing the candidate as the winner of the competition. The letter should also include contact details.
  3. Conclusion of the scientific supervisor on the compliance of the topic of the master’s thesis with the Development Strategy of the university or region.
  4. Information about the candidate’s scientific, volunteer and community activities , including scientific publications, certificates, diplomas, etc.
  5. Certificate of knowledge of English and/or Polish at a level not lower than B2 – official or university-standard.
  6. Electronic version of the master’s thesis.

How to submit documents

One candidate may be recommended for a scholarship from each faculty/institute .

All documents must be combined into one PDF file and sent from the Dean’s Office email to the email address of the International Relations Department: interdep@cnu.edu.ua .

The deadline for submitting documents is August 28, 2026.

How will the selection take place?

After the completion of the application process, a face-to-face meeting with the candidates will take place .

Each participant will have the opportunity to:

  • introduce yourself in Ukrainian;
  • present the results of their master’s thesis;
  • briefly justify its relevance and practical significance.

The presentation duration is up to 3 minutes .

The date and time of the in-person meeting with candidates will be announced later.

Scholarship amount

According to the results of the second stage of the competition, the two authors of the best master’s theses will receive a one-time scholarship of $1,000 each.
